Study in Hungary and the representatives of nine Hungarian Higher Education Institutions visited three Indian cities and participated at the India EduExpos 2019 education fairs between 1-7 September. The city of Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai welcomed the delegation from Hungary. The study fair was a great event to inform students about the wide range of higher educational opportunities in Hungary. At the stands, representatives met hundreds of students who were interested in the Hungarian higher education and scholarship opportunities at all levels.

Ms. Medea Terczy from the Department of International Relations represented BME. In her opinion, Indian students are increasingly coming to Europe for further education and Hungary has become popular in recent years, so today BME boasts more Indian students each year. They are very welcomed as they have excellent English language knowledge and pre-university education.

During the week, Study in Hungary had the opportunity to organize the first Indo-Hungarian Higher Education Forum and Alumni Meeting in Delhi. The aim of the Alumni Meeting was to offer meeting opportunity for former Indian students of Hungary. The forum helped to deepen the cooperation with the partner organisations, to support inter-institutional partnership. At the event, the delegation welcomed Ambassador Gyula Pethő and Dr. Hilda Farkas, Counsellor for Science and Technology, who are assisting in the development of higher education cooperation and research activities between Indian and Hungarian institutions throughout the year.

During the trip the delegation visited three well known universities: Jawaharlal Nehru University, Indian Institute of Technology, University of Mumbai. During the meetings discussions have started about the organization of joint summer university and exchange programs in the future.

BME will continue to work closely with the Indian partners in the future and hope to welcome more students for the coming intakes.
